Where Leaders Are Made
At Elite Toastmasters Club, we are committed to helping our members become confident, effective communicators—because we believe strong communication is essential not just for professional success, but for thriving in everyday life. The ability to express yourself clearly and connect meaningfully with others is at the heart of personal and professional growth.
Elite Toastmasters Club offers more than just speech practice. We’re a community built on connection. While members may join to improve their communication skills, they often stay for the deep, lasting friendships they form along the way. As we like to say: “Come for the self-improvement, stay for the lifelong friendships.”
Beyond our regular meetings, we spend time together as friends—engaging in sports, volunteering, going on outings, and sharing countless memorable moments. These activities strengthen our bonds outside the formal setting, creating a warm and supportive environment that enriches every aspect of our lives.

Elite Toastmasters Club was born out of a conversation between two passionate Charter Members—Cyril Jonas, DTM, and Daniel Teh, CTM. They shared a vision: to create a Toastmasters club that prioritized quality over quantity, where the journey through the Toastmasters educational program would be as valuable as the titles earned.
They observed a growing trend of members rushing through speech manuals simply to collect accolades like CC or ACB, without truly reflecting on whether their communication skills had meaningfully improved. Elite Toastmasters Club would be different. Here, progress wouldn’t be measured by titles alone, but by genuine growth. If a member needed support with proficiency in communication, experienced mentors would step in to guide and support before approving the next speech. This mentorship-driven approach ensures quality growth for both individuals and the club.
Cyril and Daniel soon enlisted other like-minded Toastmasters: Jack Lim, CTM; Choy Kwok Ming, CTM; Zakie Shariff, CTM; Hashim Adnan, CTM; and Zarina Abu Bakar, CTM. This core team then reached out to others who shared the same ideals. In the early days, the club met at various locations across Kuala Lumpur—Palace of the Golden Horses, Sheraton Subang, and others—before finding a permanent home at The Royal Lake Club.
Networking and idea exchange have always been central to Elite Toastmasters Club’s identity. In that spirit, many of our meetings are preceded by a sit-down dinner, fostering deeper connections and thoughtful discussions.
Conversations span personal passions to current issues, with the expectation that they are handled with tact, respect, and intelligence. Personal attacks are never tolerated.
After 18 months of perseverance and nomadic meetings, Elite Toastmasters Club was officially chartered in March 2014, with Ahmad Zakie Shariff as its Charter President. Since then, we have proudly upheld our mission: “Building Articulate and Vibrant Leaders.” We aim to nurture speakers who inspire through words and lead through action—creating positive change in their communities and beyond.
