So, our top contestants Lee Chen Choon and Lee Chengrui showed off their stuff on Saturday at the Area G3 Contest held at Monash University, Malaysia.
Chen Choon gave a dramatic presentation, “Why Me?” while Lee Chengrui answered the Table Topics on the income gap and whether it is unavoidable (his emphatic answer was No!). Both gave it their 110%.
It was a tough contest. The other International Speech contestants were: Jamie, Reuben and Ashwinee, while for Table Topics contestants were Ashwinee, Winnie (our Club Contest Chair!) and Ian. All speakers were eloquent and persuasive. The judges must have had a difficult time.
The winners were announced and they were:
International Speech: First Prize to Jamie of MidValley (with his powerful speech, “Just Say Yes”) while 1st Runner Up was Ashwinee (with her speech on her heroic father).
Table Topics: First Prize went to Ashwinee (for an artful metaphor on income inequality) while 1st Runner Up was our very own Lee Chengrui.
So, yes, Elite will still be represented at the next Division G Contest on 11th April at Inti International College Subang.
BRAVO to all the contestants but especially to LEE CHEN CHOON and LEE CHENGRUI.
You need nerves of steel to compete in contests, in addition to the sacrifices you have to make in terms of time and preparation. Am sure both contestants have learnt much from the experience and will achieve greater success in future contests.
